Essential Ingredients Of A Liver Detox Diet Program
We are going to be discussing the essential ingredients involved in a liver detox diet. However, prior to talking about the diet, let's talk about the liver itself.
Did you know that the liver is one of the most important organs in a person's body? We have two kidneys, and although it would be uncomfortable, we can live without one of them. As you already know, many people live without a wide variety of body parts.
The liver plays a vital role in detoxifying chemicals and substances that pass through the body. The liver has excellent capabilities in both identifying and removing foreign materials from body. After they've been identified, they are removed via feces, urine and sweat. Even those of us on wonderful high-quality diets cannot prevent toxins from entering our bodies through the foods we eat. Processed and artificially rich foods are critical contributors to the introduction of toxins. Plus, alcohol and cigarettes and even many of the drugs prescribed to us carry harmful materials.
As long as this list may be, it is just a small sample of the kinds of work our liver is exposed to every single day. It is essential that we both understand the function of the liver and the importance of our keeping it healthy. Because of the environment that every one of us lives in, attention to liver health is one of the most important things we can do.
First, all of us need to be very conscious about what we eat every single day.
Those of us on more unhealthy diets are exposing our liver to much more than it can potentially handle. And this situation, the liver can become overwhelmed. Once the liver is unable to do its complete job, these unhealthy toxins and other materials can continue to accumulate in our bodies. This is a quick path to an unhealthy state.
This is truly a call to action. And it points out why the liver detox diet can be so beneficial to your health.
Most knowledgeable people agree that a liver detox diet can be accomplished in one of three different programs. A liver detox diet typically lasts for three days, or seven days or as much as 21 days.
All of these programs focus raw and organic vegetables and whole grains. Water is a critical component and certain things have to be excluded regardless of the length of the diet. The exclusion list includes foods that are high in sugar and high in fat; processed foods; all junk food; and, caffeine and alcohol.
Most people find the seven-day program is the one that's most effective.
7 Day Liver Detox Diet.
1-3 days – This is the time to start with liquid diet. Drink approximately 10-12 glasses of water each day with freshly squeezed limejuice. A great rule of some is 1 ounce of water for every 2 pounds of body weight. Also, one should plan on increasing the amount of exercise they are receiving. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise during the first three days. Also on the list of excluded items are dairy products.
This is a tough time. Many experience mild symptoms that include weakness and nausea. This is because these unwanted toxins are being flushed out of the body.
4-6 days - During this time raw fruits and vegetables together with whole grains can be used. Celery, oranges, apples and carrots can be prepared as juice. You can use nearly any vegetable and fruit combination you decide on. Although you'll want to continue with water, other fluids such as herbal teas can be introduced a few times a day. Meals can be composed of vegetables that are chopped and boiled. You can also use broth. Use your imagination with vegetables.
7th day - The fluids are still continued together with the vegetables and fruits. This is an excellent time to be an experimenter. Sample a wide variety of vegetables available in your local grocery store. Although caffeine continues to be excluded, herbal teas (and there is a very large number of them) are a wonderful addition, so feel free to have them. Remember, even though your diet is somewhat restricted you can have a lot of fun with the wide variety of available fruits and vegetables.
After the seventh day, your normal diet can be resumed, but still with the restriction of alcohol use for a least a week after the diet ends.
Remember, before beginning any diet you'll need to consult your medical doctor. If you experience any pain besides minor pain and nausea discontinue this program right away. In summary, a 3,7 or 21 day liver detox diet is a great technique for getting your body back into shape and maintaining it.
